Day 1: Operations & Maintenance (O+M)

• Introduction to operations and maintenance and their role in facility efficiency.

• Assessing and inspecting the condition of buildings, systems, interior/exterior elements, and grounds.

• Managing and monitoring the operation and maintenance of systems and equipment, from acquisition and installation to replacement.

• Organizing and overseeing occupant services and measuring satisfaction levels.

• Selecting the best resources by developing service specifications, choosing qualified providers, monitoring performance, and resolving disputes.

Day 2: Leadership & Strategy

• Understanding the strategy life-cycle phases: understanding, analysis, planning, and acting.

• Fundamentals of leadership, individual behavior theories, and techniques to inspire, influence, and manage FM teams.

• Building effective teams, maintaining performance, developing and implementing policies, clarifying responsibilities, and resolving conflicts.

• Promoting ethics and codes of conduct, developing relationships, and ensuring compliance and governance.

Day 3: Finance & Business

• Introduction to finance and business in facility management, including fundamental accounting concepts.

• Budgeting basics, financial statements, and effective reporting.

• Understanding cost concepts, cost-containment strategies, and chargebacks.

• Developing business cases supported by accurate financial data.

• Procurement processes, outsourcing, and contract management.

• Developing, monitoring, and analyzing contracts, resolving vendor disputes, interpreting risks, and preventing fraud.

Day 4: Project Management + Study Plan & International Exam Preparation

• Introduction to project management and the role of the project manager in facility projects.

• Initiation phase: defining project purpose, inputs, programming, project charter, and objectives.

• Planning phase: designing deliverables and creating the project management plan.

• Execution and monitoring: managing teams, resources, and project progress.

• Closing phase: accepting deliverables, closing contracts, and evaluating results.

• Study plan for the international exam: a structured roadmap covering all core competencies.
